Bladnoch Talia 26 Year Old American Oak Red Wine Cask is a deeply fruited Lowland single malt from Bladnoch Distillery in Scotland, bottled at 44% ABV. Rather than a late finish, this 26yo spent its full maturation in American oak red wine casks, and the fruit weight shows it.

The nose leans into mature oak and ripe red berries, with a soft creamy note underneath and a lift of dried flowers. Give it a few minutes in the glass and the berry character darkens towards macerated cherry and plum skin, edged with nutmeg and a faint waxy sweetness typical of well-aged Lowland spirit.

On the palate, polished oak frames dark red berries, liquorice and warm baking spice. Twenty-six years have taken the sharp corners off, so the texture is rounded and gently oily rather than sharp, and the 44% strength carries the fruit without any heat. The finish runs long, drying slowly through aged oak, leather and a last trace of spice.
